Chase Update (Spoiler: Still Terrible)

Called Chase to try to get the Freedom Unlimited denial reconned. The agent picked up pretty much immediately on a Saturday morning which was nice. This was the wife’s application and trying to coach her up on how to handle the recon was it’s own ordeal (‘Just write down everything you want me to say or I might need to say’, ffs) Anyway, rep noticed previous apps for denied Chase cards because I didn’t count 5/24 accurately (actually I did, but I missed some AU cards & didn’t feel like reconning during the first days of the pandemic, so whatever, wasted pulls). She didn’t seem to be aware as to what cards had previously been approved/denied, which seemed odd. Wife went through the spiel as best she could ‘saw there’s a new grocery bonus, want to change spend from my Amex card to Chase. Agent put us on hold. Agent came back & said she could resubmit the application, but would need to reallocate some credit from another card, Freedom had a $30k+ limit so said let’s move $10k from that onto the new Unlimited. Put on hold again, rockin’ hold music btw, agent comes back says you’ve been approved yada yada, cool thanks bye. Wife hangs up the phone & says, oh it must have already gone through, Experian just sent me an alert….. Yeah, Chase pulled her effing credit AGAIN. 3 hard pulls, 1 piddly Unlimited card with a reallocated CL (as in no new credit). From a bank that denies people for having too many credit pulls. Terrible.
